To help you enjoy it safely, you should follow the \u2018Click Clever, Click Safe Code\u2019. It&#8217;s just three simple things to remember that can help keep you safe when you visit your favourite websites. This initiative was concieved from a group of over 150 stakeholders including the BBC, ChildNet, Disney, Facebook, Google, the Internet Watch Foundation, Microsoft, the NSPCC, Samaritans, Vodaphone and Yahoo!.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<h3>Protect your own safety<\/h3>\n<p>The \u2018Click Clever Click Safe\u2019 code is a list of three simple things to remember when you&#8217;re online:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Zip it<\/li>\n<li>Block it<\/li>\n<li>Flag it<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<h3><em>&#8230;remember to<strong> Zip it<\/strong><\/em><\/h3>\n<div><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/www.direct.gov.uk\/prod_consum_dg\/groups\/dg_digitalassets\/@dg\/documents\/digitalasset\/dg_184951.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/div>\n<p>When you\u2019re online, always keep your personal information private and think about what you say and do.<\/p>\n<p>Remember that people online may not be who they say they are. Online friends are still strangers even if you have been talking to them for a long time.<\/p>\n<p>Don\u2019t share personal information online. This includes:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>your full name<\/li>\n<li>photos<\/li>\n<li>addresses<\/li>\n<li>school information<\/li>\n<li>telephone numbers<\/li>\n<li>places you like to spend time<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Make sure you have set your privacy settings to restrict access to personal information.<\/p>\n<p>When you use chat rooms or instant messenger, use a nickname instead of your real name.<\/p>\n<p>To stop people accessing your online accounts, always keep your passwords secret and change them regularly.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<h3><em>&#8230;remember to <strong>Block it<\/strong><\/em><\/h3>\n<div><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/www.direct.gov.uk\/prod_consum_dg\/groups\/dg_digitalassets\/@dg\/@en\/documents\/digitalasset\/dg_185000.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/div>\n<p>Always think about blocking people who send you nasty messages and don\u2019t open unknown links and attachments.<\/p>\n<p>Always delete emails from people you don\u2019t know, and don\u2019t open attachments from people you don\u2019t know. They might be nasty or contain a virus that can stop your computer working.<\/p>\n<p>If someone appears odd or sends nasty messages online, block them.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h3><em>&#8230;remember to <strong>Flag it<\/strong><\/em><\/h3>\n<div><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/www.direct.gov.uk\/prod_consum_dg\/groups\/dg_digitalassets\/@dg\/@en\/documents\/digitalasset\/dg_185001.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/div>\n<p>If you see anything that upsets you online or if someone asks to meet you, flag it up with someone you trust.<\/p>\n<p>If you are worried or unhappy about anything you see online, tell a parent or an adult you trust and they can help you. If you want to talk to someone else, you can call Childline on 0800 1111<\/p>\n<p>If a friend you have made online asks to meet you in the offline world, talk to your parents or a trusted adult about it.
