A free service called ScrubIT is a free recursive DNS server that regulates what comes into your home or business. ScrubIT “scrubs” the internet so you don’t have to be concerned about what your family members will be confronted with. DNS (Domain Name System) is a process that translates easy to remember addresses (like www.google.co.uk) to a numerical IP address used by computers (184.108.40.206). The majority of DNS is provided to the user by your internet service provider, or a recursive DNS service such as ScrubIT. They currently profile several million websites and by default block out any pornographic, phishing and many other sites which may cause concern. If you would like to take advantage of this service and customise which sites are blocked and allowed, you can sign up for ScrubIT’s beta programme by clicking on the link BETA .
