On the 9th July, the FBI have estimated that over 350,000 people will loose internet connectivity due to the ‘DNS Changer’ virus which they have been dealing with. The actual virus was created by an Estonian crime group in 1997 but later disbanded sometime in November last year. At the peak of its activity, it is believed to have infected over half a million machines. The virus had a number of minor effects including generating fraudulent clicks on adverts and disabling antivirus software as well as redirecting computers to the fraudsters servers.
